SURVEY
Site selection is an integral and often overlooked aspect of pipeline integrity programs. It is this initial data which filters through all future aspects of the program, including tracking, data analyzing, dig chaining and staking, and eventually finding and repairing the anomalies which by this point have cost much resources and money to detect. The validity and presentation of the data collected at this primary level cannot be overstated.
Through decades of pig tracking experience, Maxwell has developed expertise in sub-decimeter site documentation of AGM locations. Maxwell can accurately survey new AGM locations before an ILI project begins, or re-survey existing AGM locations to improve accuracy. Improved AGM location accuracy helps operators save money by improving the accuracy of ILI data, which ultimately reduces the cost of post-ILI repairs.
GPS ACCURACY
The accuracy of your GPS data is one of the most important aspects of the survey. Maxwell uses top of the line Survey equipment to get the most accurate data. For example, your cell phone gives you an accuracy of approximately 15 Meters (49.21 feet), Maxwell’s equipment is Sub-Decimeter accurate…approximately 4 inches. (Decimeter – 1=.33 feet) (Centimeter – 1=.033 feet)
GPS LAT & LONG
Just like every actual house has its address (which includes the number, the name of the street, city, etc.), every single point on the surface of earth can be specified by the latitude and longitude coordinates. Therefore, by using latitude and longitude we can specify virtually any point on earth.
